Has worked in sports medicine for the past 16 years. He started the McCord Hospital Sports Medicine Clinic in 1993 (Durban'92s first sports medicine clinic) and ran it for 5 years. He then helped establish the Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre in 1998. He has held a part-time lecturing post in the Department of Sport Science, UKZN Westville since 1997. He is a past-president of the South African Sports Medicine Association and he is the honorary medical officer to South Africa Lifesaving. He has worked with various sports codes and teams over the years, including individual sports (eg. athletics, rugby and cycling) and multi-disciplinary sports 10 events (eg. World Association Veteran Athletics and the All Africa Games).
